Chocolate Crinkle Cookies and a Little Jadite!

Everything...I mean E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G tastes better when it is served in a pretty piece of Fire King Jadite!  I decided the other day that I needed to make some Chocolate Crinkle Cookies and since they are a "darker colored" type of cookie, I thought they would look absolutely PERFECT in on of my Jadite Restaurant Ware Berry BowlsI am so lucky to have a nice little stack of these beautiful bowls...they are the perfect size to serve individual sized portions of mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese or jello and pudding!

I purchased these gorgeous berry bowls on Ebay from an individual who was selling a huge collection of Fire King Jadite from an old Church Kitchen.  How I would love to have lived in the era where Jadite Restaurant Ware was used in church halls!  Heck, I would have loved to have been able to eat at the 50's-60's diner where Jadite was the Restaurant Ware of choice!  Fun times.

Flea Market Finds!

Ah...I LOVE LOVE LOVE me some great Flea Market Finds...especially when I am not really looking and I wasn't even out there in the sweltering South Carolina Heat on this particular day!  How did I acquire such a gorgeous group of bowls you ask?  Here's the skinny...

My husband...I call him Houston...was up at the crack of dawn one HOT and disgusting Saturday morning here in South Carolina.  To say it was Humid out is an understatement and really cannot describe what it feels like outside especially if you happen to be menopausal...like myself!  I digress.  So, as the story goes...Houston decides to hit our local Flea Market and since this particular venue is not exactly known for having such "grandma attic type" finds I wasn't all that interested in making the trip with him.  However...my daughter...Little Miss Pink and Lime Green was thrilled to accompany her Dad!  As they walked out the door I reminded them to keep an eye out for some Jadite and take a picture with their phone and text it to me...

Oh...the shopping capabilities one acquires with an iPhone!

Thank goodness Little Miss Pink and Lime Green was there that day...because Houston walked right by these Beautiful Gems!  She quickly checked them for cracks, chips, stains and possible dishwasher hazing...snapped a picture of them and sent it on to ME!  She even knew to look at the bottoms to see how they were marked...if at all.  SCORE...they are now MINE...all MINE!

The moral of the story is that two sets of eyes are always better than one!

PS...the bowl on the right is an 8" Swirl Mixing Bowl and the one on the left is a 7.5" Splash proof Bowl.  Love them BOTH!

Where it ALL began...

I wanted to start my Just Jadite Blog with the very 1st purchase I made for my collection...and here she is...an absolutely adorable piece of Jane Ray Jadite...a little creamer and the matching saucer to help you pass it along at your table.  I found the creamer on Etsy, and since I have an Etsy Shop of my own, I felt it only fitting to support my fellow Shop owners with this little purchase.  I didn't realize at the time, but this matching Jane Ray Saucer (that also has the ribbed pattern on the backside of the saucer too) was made to hold this little creamer.  I am instantly in LOVE with all things Jadite!

Adventures in Jadite!

And so it begins...my adventures in Jadite or Jadeite (as some of you spell it).  It's that gorgeous milky green glass that brings you those nostalgic memories of the past and the ever popular 50's kitchen.  I am new to the Jadite World and I not only collect Fire King Jadite glassware, dinnerware and the like...but I plan to decorate my kitchen with it and incorporate it into my every day life.  Join me in my journey as I learn about this ever popular glassware, add to my collection and give my kitchen that "Jadite" look.
